Your diet should be at least 51% raw. What is raw food or living food? It consists of organic fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds. There are no animal products, gluten, or refined sugars. Over time, we have become distant from our food; but really, raw is the most natural way for humans and animals to eat. I believe the best way is to eat is in the range of 80-100% raw, but let’s start slow and let the process grow.
Raw food is tasty and filling because it is alive and full of fiber – making it satiating. When you eat raw you are giving your body pure nutrition. It doesn’t just consist of ‘rabbit food’ like salads. Raw food is never heated above 115 degrees.
When you eat cooked food an alarm goes off in the immune system. The body goes through a process called digestive leukocytosis, where it starts generating white blood cell activity against the cooked food you eat. The cooking process changes the food structure to the point where the body cannot recognize it and treats it like a toxin.
In the 1930’s Paul Kouchakoff, M.D. showed that if you ate a diet that was more than 51% cooked food, your body reacts to the food as if it was being invaded by a foreign organism. He further demonstrated that if 51% of your meals were raw, you would have no leukocytosis (no white blood cell reaction), so your immune system would not be activated with a false alarm. Today, we deal with so many immune system issues; we have to make sure that at least 51% of our meals are raw so we don’t overburden an already burdened immune system. Let’s make little changes that make a difference. You can do it!
“And God said, See I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the land and every tree with seed in its fruit; you shall have them as food.” (Gen. 1:29)
And this food was raw and alive.
